South Mountain State Park has the closest waterfall to Charlotte, NC.
If you’re looking to explore a pretty park with lots of nature and great picnic spots, this is a day-trip park to check out!
⚠️ Important update (July 2026): The High Shoals Falls Trail and all waterfall viewing areas are currently closed due to damage from Hurricane Helene (Sept. 2024).
