Inside: A REAL Mom Review of Charlotte’s Seemingly Overzealous Ice Cream. It’s dairy, gluten, and egg free, and 100% amazing.
If you’re looking for ice cream that everyone in the family can enjoy—yes, even if you’re dairy-free—Seemingly Overzealous Ice Cream in Charlotte, NC is calling your name! With a massive 2026 expansion bringing them to five beautiful locations and a lineup of creative, delicious flavors, this 100% dairy-free, egg-free, and gluten-free shop has become a local favorite for good reason.

We LOVED Seemingly Overzealous Ice Cream
As someone who can’t tolerate dairy, it’s rare to find a place where I can join the kids for an ice cream cone without settling for a sad scoop of sorbet (or worse—nothing). But at Seemingly Overzealous? Everything on the menu is safe for me—and it tastes amazing.
My kids (who are full-on dairy lovers) didn’t even realize they were eating dairy-free ice cream. We all agreed: it was some of the best ice cream we’ve ever had: fresh, homemade, and very tasty.

Unique Flavors That Surprise and Delight
The menu is packed with unique options that rotate regularly, alongside exciting new menu rollouts like customizable ice cream flights and decadent dairy-free milkshakes!
They also frequently team up with local providers for seasonal specials—like their recent “Spontaneous Regeneration” strawberry flavor collaboration with Freshlist. Here’s what we tried and loved:
- “I Needed Someone to Feed” – Tastes just like Cinnamon Toast Crunch milk. Absolutely dreamy!
- You’re My Banana – A kid-approved favorite that’s sweet and crunchy with candied pecans.
- Blue Moon – According to my daughter, it tastes “like the color blue”—whatever that means. She loved it!
- “Can’t All Be Cookie” – Their spin on cookies and cream, and my son’s new favorite.
You’ll find everything from fun to classic and nostalgic flavors. And the best part? You can sample away until you find the flavor you want.
