Camp North End is Excellent for Kids!

Camp North End isn’t just a place to eat and shop—it’s a playground for kids of all ages! There are a lot of fun things to check out all around the space, from spectacular murals to a variety of swings and a huge open play space with fun activities.

Murals and Art Abound!

Camp North End is home to dozens of art installations, murals, and sculptures that will keep the whole family entertained while wandering around. The murals were spectacular, with a plethora of art themes that ranged from inspiring to silly. Let the kids get creative by taking photos with some of the colorful street art and interactive sculptures.

Head Straight to the Boileryard

This is one of the most exciting areas for kids to play. The Boileryard is a lively outdoor space with picnic tables, a large open area for playing, and a community vibe that’s perfect for family outings. Plus, it’s frequently used for special events and pop-up activities, so you might find a bounce house, outdoor games, or live music during your visit.

Giant LEGO Bricks

Kids (and adults!) will be thrilled by the giant LEGO bricks that they can play with in the Boileryard. This was by far the favorite activity for both of my kids, but since we visited on a Saturday, it was very crowded in the LEGO space. They both spent a good bit stacking and rearranging the colorful blocks, and the space felt safe.

Plus, they made a few friends with a collective goal, build the biggest tower of LEGOs! All of the kids and parents were having a great time. Our kids were able to be creative and get out their wiggles while my husband and I played along, and then rested under the shaded spots along the edge of the open space.

Pop-Up Events and Festivals

Camp North End regularly holds family-friendly events like outdoor movie nights, live music, and arts festivals. During our visit, The Broken Crayon was hosting a flower pot painting popup craft event, which a lot of the older kids were enjoying. Many of the events feature games, face painting, and other activities, ensuring a fun-filled day for your kids. Camp North End will be adding more kid events throughout the year. The summer outdoor movie series is certain to be a hit as well. Be sure to check out the full event calendar for more events.

Where to Eat at Camp North End

One of the best parts about any outing is the food, and Camp North End offers a variety of delicious dining options for the whole family to enjoy. Back near the Boileryard, you’ll find some really cool buses that are selling smoothies, tacos, and more. Plus, you’ll find pop-up restaurants. While we were there, there was an amazing food stand selling the most delicious-looking Paella. In addition, there are several permanent restaurants that you have to check out!

Gravity Sourdough Pizza: Located right next to The Boileryard, you’ll find Gravity Sourdough Pizza. Their menu is perfect for families with kids because they have something for everyone. You can order pizza classics like cheese and pepperoni, or try out some specialty pizzas like Pear Pressure, Shroom City, and a brussel sprout-based pizza (if you’re brave enough!).

We loved their Gangsta Paradise smoothie, and they were even able to accommodate my picker child with a lemonade mango smoothie (that was the best!). Plus, they are running out of an awesome converted airstream bus, which just elevated the vibe.

Halal Street Food: You will be carried off of your feet toward the delicious smell coming from Halal Street Food. They have Dominican-Pakistani fusion food, with kabobs, lamb over rice, gyros, and more.

Seemingly Overzealous Ice Cream: You know you’re going to want a sweet treat after a morning of checking out the shops. Grab a scoop or two from Seemingly Overzealous Ice Cream and head outside to one of the swings. Maybe even catch some live music! The shop is open from Wednesday – Sunday.

Tipsy Pickle: One of the newest tenants of Camp North End has made its mark! Tipsy Pickle have a full, pickle bar court (5 courts total) attached to the sideyard of their restaurant. Not only that, but they also have simulation golf, pool tables, and video games. Their menu is pretty great too, with options like tacos, wraps, salads, and burritos along with an allergy-friendly menu.
