Have you visited Optimist Hall? Charlotte’s got a lot of options when it comes to amazing food, but parents know having many options under one roof can make or break that family meal out. Food halls mean everyone can find something they’ll really enjoy, which increases the odds of a happy meal together.
We stopped by Optimist Hall for lunch just before we headed out of town to drop off one of our kids at his Scuba Diving certification camp, and I’m super glad we did. So, we pulled together this guide to help you make the most of your visit.

About Optimist Hall
Located in Charlotte, North Carolina, Optimist Hall is a vibrant 60,000-square-foot food hall housed in a beautifully restored historic building that dates back to the turn of the century. It once served as a textile mill, and also was once part of the Duke Energy campus. The historic building has been meticulously renovated to preserve its turn-of-the-century charm while accommodating modern amenities and businesses. We loved the space, especially all the plants and greenery.

And if you like plants, side note, there is a plant shop. I avoided stepping foot inside because I don’t particularly need anymore plants to try to keep barely alive in my house. That’s a fact that I always forget when I’m actually in a plant store.
Anyway, the plant shop is just one of a wide variety of eateries, shops, and communal spaces housed in Optimist Hall.

Our lunches came from 3 different eateries in Optimist Hall. The restaurants just send you a text when your food is ready so it’s super easy to stop at one stall, order something one member of your group wants to eat, and then keep walking to explore the other offerings.

My son enjoyed some spicy pork ramen from Bao and Broth. He’s a major ramen fan and said it was some of the best he’s ever had- maybe even THE best.
The sandwiches at Schreiber’s on Rye caught my eye. I’m from Upstate NY originally and the menu reminded me of some of my favorite delis from back in the day. I ordered the Riverside and it did not disappoint. I’ll definitely be back for that sandwich again.
For dessert we picked up some eclairs and coffee from the Cuban bakery and cafe, Suarez Bakery and Barra. Very yummy, and the coffee was top-notch.
