The Flipside Cafe in Fort Mill, SC

Looking for your next weekend brunch spot? Just across the state line in Fort Mill, The Flipside Café serves up big flavor in a relaxed, upscale-casual setting. Whether you’re team savory or team sweet (or both!), this local favorite is worth adding to your weekend plans.

Here’s what our family ordered, what we loved, and why we’re already planning a return trip — next time with mimosas.

Our Experience at The Flipside Café

We picked The Flipside Café based on its glowing Google reviews, and it lived up to every one of them. Yes, it’s a bit more expensive than your average breakfast joint, but it was 1000% worth it.

  • Atmosphere: Upscale but still casual and comfy
  • Service: Friendly, fast, and on point
  • Wait time: None (though we probably just got lucky — go early!)

What We Ordered (And Loved)

We sampled a few things from the menu, and everything was a hit. Here’s the breakdown:

  • The Flipside Breakfast
  • Steak and Eggs
  • Kids Pancake with Fruit (the perfect kid-size plate)

But the stars of the table were these two:

Dirty South Grit Bowl

Pimento cheese. Pulled pork. Braised bacon. Grits.
It’s rich, smoky, cheesy Southern comfort in a bowl — and we’re still dreaming about it.

Bourbon Peach Waffle

Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and full of warm peach flavor. We asked for the sweet toppings on the side, so the photo didn’t quite do it justice — but wow, this was next-level delicious.

Can’t decide between sweet or savory? Get both. No regrets.

Would We Go Back?

Absolutely — and next time, we’re planning to stay a little longer and check out the mimosa flights (kid-free brunch date, anyone?). This is one of those places where the food makes the short drive feel like part of the fun.

Wait… Isn’t That in South Carolina?

It is! But Fort Mill is just minutes from most Charlotte suburbs, and this spot is definitely part of the greater Charlotte food scene.

There are two sister restaurants in the Flipside family:

  • The Flipside Café (Fort Mill) – cozy café vibes, known for brunch and lunch
  • The Flipside Restaurant (Rock Hill) – a little more upscale with a full dinner menu

Both locations offer brunch and dinner, so you can’t go wrong either way. We visited the Fort Mill café — but Rock Hill’s on our radar for next time!
