Liberty Park: One Mooresville, NC park, so many surprises

Fenced Playground for All Ages

The fully fenced playground makes it easy to relax while your kids explore. Parents of toddlers, this part’s especially helpful for you!

What we noticed:

  • Soft surface for safer play
  • Equipment for both younger and older kids
  • Close to bathrooms
  • Easy for one adult to supervise multiple kids

Splash Pad Fun

Bring the swimsuits — Liberty Park’s splash pad is the perfect way to beat the heat! With water features little ones can run through, and plenty of space for big kids to join the fun, it’s a summer win.

  • Free to use
  • Usually open seasonally (check town schedules)
  • Right next to the playground

Amphitheater + Lounging Swings

Amphitheater in Liberty Park

Yes, this park has its own amphitheater!

It’s used for community events and performances, but even on quiet days, it’s a fun place for kids to play pretend — or just for parents to chill.

Right nearby, you’ll find:

  • Modern lounging swings (think giant porch swings — adults love these too!)
  • Plenty of open grassy space to spread out a blanket
  • A peaceful feel, even when the playground is busy

Watch! Check out the amphitheater and basketball courts

Wait… a TOTALLY COVERED Basketball Court?!

Yes, and yes again.

This might be the biggest wow factor of Liberty Park — a giant covered basketball court that provides shade and rain protection. It’s seriously awesome for:

  • Pick-up games
  • Shooting around with kids
  • Letting teens burn energy while littles play nearby

Even better: you can spot the court easily from the playground, so older kids can have some freedom while staying in sight.

Clean, Convenient Bathrooms

Liberty Park has TWO clean bathrooms — and both were open and in great condition during our visit. Major parenting win.

  • Stroller-accessible
  • Close to both the playground and splash pad

Bonus Wildlife Sighting: A Beaver!

Liberty Park

Near the creek that runs alongside part of the park, we spotted a real live beaver paddling through the water — and yes, it was magical.

  • Look near the shaded trail beside the splash pad area
  • Best chances early morning or evening
  • A quiet walk might lead to a big surprise

This unexpected nature moment was a highlight of our visit!

Know Before You Go

  • Parking: Free and close to the action
  • Stroller access: Easy paths throughout
  • Shade: Lots of covered spots — ideal for hot days
  • Food: No picnic tables spotted, but grassy areas are great for a blanket lunch
